Going to the Sun Road

Take in the sights on the historic and scenic Going to the Sun Road. This stunning road is one of the most scenic roads in the United States. The Going to the Sun Road traverses 67 miles through the heart of Glacier National Park, connecting West Glacier to St. Mary.

Beginning in West Glacier, the road meanders along the southern side of beautiful Lake McDonald. The road then begins to twist and turn as it ascends what is known as the Garden Wall, an incredibly steep and tall ridge that forms the western side of the Continental Divide. The road goes over the divide at Logan Pass, which has a large parking and visitor area. From Logan Pass, the Going to the Sun Road descends into the stunningly beautiful St. Mary Valley, skirting the northern shores of St. Mary Lake.

For anyone visiting Glacier, whether it be for a day or for a week, a drive on the Going to the Sun Road is a trip that will never be forgotten.
